Good news for all you Durban Fashionistas....

Well as some of you are still trying to get over the excitement of Zara and Forever New bringing the different feel to Durban's fashion scene. I am looking forward to the other 3 new retail editions that are about to stir things up this summer. As the festive season is approaching, retail stores tend to want to stand out as they give customers their last "to die for" clothing range for the year. It is going to be interesting to see how things play out.

So it has been confirmed that Topshop and Mango which are going to be at the Gateway Shopping Theatre as well as Cotton On which is going to be at the Pavilion Shopping Centre will be the new editions to the Durban fashion scenery. I was at Pavilion this past weekend and Cotton On is already under construction opposite Mr Price at the cinema level, i saw at Gateway as well two weeks back that Topshop is also underway with their renovations and looks like by December these shops will be up and running. I for one am super excited, it's about time the retail scene was taken up a notch here in Durban. It was starting to be abit bland if you ask me......

I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU HEARD, "B" IS MAKING IT HAPPEN(**,)....

So many love to hate Bonang while other love her for her fashion sense, yes GUILTY!!! as charged i follow her wardrobe trends as well.  I think she is one of SA's most stylish fashionistas. But i do not only admire that about her, as the work she does speaks for itself. At such a young age she has broken through so many boundaries to be where she is. True reflection of the term "hard work pays"....anyone who is anyone in the SA entertainment industry has wanted or still does want a piece of that package; the bubbly personality, funk, style, charisma and confidence all bottled up in that model built body....As i read through my new Elle Magazine issue with Bonang as cover girl, she still has me amazed!! Big ups to being such a good influence/inspiration to young, black, independent South African women like myself Bonang.

So spring is here everyone and we are all wanting to pull out our bright colours, shorts and shades!!! If i may just plead with the ladies especially, this is the time to visit the spa; get those waxes done, manis and pedis PLEASE!!! Oh, you think i'm begin funny?? Trust me, the things you see out there(bushy underarms).......Should i continue?? I didn't think so. Yeah, so you basically get my plea lol. And also please put some work at gym or do some taebo at home and tone it up(shed the winter weight we all picked up). Cause we want to see those lovely bodies rocking those sexy bikinis:). And no guys, you're not off the hook, can you guys please put twice as much effort as the women at gym. We really like seeing those 6 packs at the beach more than seeing a "keg" lol.

Anyway let me not get to deep in the grooming part of things(let's leave that for my next blog lol). Going back to the spring/summer colours; Some top colours this season include mint green, tangerine tango, solar power, sweet lilac, cabaret and sodalite blue to name a few. The classic colours remain playing their role all year round and that is one fact that designer and stylist understand. Your can never go wrong with the neutrals(Black, white, grey, beige/stone, brown and charcoals). They are always a winner no matter what!!! The trends you will see taking heights this season are the bold prints, geomatric prints, stripes, animal and whimsical prints. So don't be shy to express you personality in these stunning colours and gorgeous trends!! HAPPY SPRING MY LOVE BUGGGZ....signing out mwaah(**,).

YOU Magazine Spectacular Awards 2012.

Bonang Matheba and Melinda Bam.

AKA

 Zahara

So this past weekend Cape Town was abuzz with the YOU Magazine Spectacular Awards which took place on Saturday 28th July. I did see snippets of the event as well as who wore what.... Can i just say Zahara is slowly transforming, she even color blocked her pink dress with a blue&puple clutch. Baby steps Zahara, baby steps!!! As we try to forget the metro fm awards 2011 outfit*covers face*. And please can someone tell AKA there's a naked leopard at the Kruger National Park who is feeling violated and it doesn't help that he's a yellow-bone, you could mistake him as one of the siblings. On a lighter and more positive note, Bonang and Melinda looked stunning, so did Lunga Shabalala amongst others. Well done to all the nominees and congrats to all the winners(**,).

DESIGNER EXTRAORDINAIRE GAVIN RAJAH'S COLLABO WITH CLINIQUE.....

Clinique has done it again, a hot collaboration with designer Gavin Rajah which is said to be available at selected Red Square and Edgars stores as of yesterday 16th July - 5 Aug 2012. So if you are a lover of clinique products like myself and a fashionista obviously hehehe. This has definitely got you going on a frenzy already because if you can recall the past Clinique Collaborations with Stone Cherrie's Glamtastic Khensani in 2010 and the charismatic David Tlale for 2011. Then you will know what i'm talking about!! I went mad with Khensani's clinique clutch bag and David Tlale's tote bag, so when i saw the Gavin Rajah inspired clutch, with the "on trend fashion influence of colour blocking" in turquiose and sliver grey!! I thought to myself dzamn Red Square stores here i come.....................

Who stole the spotlight..........#VDJ 2012.

And so it came and went, the excitement!! The buzz of the durban july has left behind some memorable moments. If you were part of it, i know you get me. If you missed it like myself(just caused you weren't there doesn't mean you mustn't be clued up on what went down), well i hope you know what went down or else keep your eyes glued for my version. Well as a fashion stylist, you best know that my version is always fashion, fashion and more FASHION. So i am a little disappointed that not alot of people stuck to the theme and honestly i thought it was the easiest to pull off. If you're not sure what the theme was; it was "a material world" which on my previous blog i even had suggestions and pictures of what i had hoped to see. Anyway, here are some of the people and familiar faces that caught my attention......

1. Mthoko.

2. Jo-Ann Strauss.

Noni Gasa and Lorna Maseko.

3. Dj Sbu with friend.

4. Jeanie D.
5. Don't know her name but her outfit caught my eye.

 6. Zuraida and her man.

 7. Minenhle Dlamini and Penny Lebyane.

8. My favourite clients(did your spot them at the july - dressed by flowerbug).
So there it is, those are some of the Dbn July 2012 showstoppers for me. And i have to say Mthoko had to be my #1 because i knew he was gonna pull off something fab, i met him through a friend about 3weeks ago and he let me in on his outfit. So the suspense had been killing me because he just knows how to transform his artistic vision to something wow=D. I would like to thank the VDJ for bringing out Noni Gasa, who has been lying low and happens to be my style icon....she and Lorna looked gorgeous, not forgetting the lovely Jeanie D as well. And Dj Sbu's  outfit was also hot. I mean that's what the Dbn July is about, stepping out your comfort zone and embracing that glamtastic, fashionista side of you.

Count down to the long waited Dbn July.....

2012 Durban July Theme

A MATERIAL WORLD? Seven billion people, the latest count.
Concern for the planet, the energies mount. This event is red, that’s for sure.
But support for green, is part of the cure. Spare a thought, for Mother Earth.
Need to save her, for all we’re worth. Sustainably harvested, natural, organic.
Alternative fibres, no time for panic. All these words, what do they mean?
For a start, change your routine. Reduce, respect, reconstruct, ‘My Dear’.
Recycle, repair, rethink, ‘Monsieur’. Show support, through what you wear.
Or what it’s made of, concern with flair. Glitz and sparkle, are definitely in.
The overall impression, is what will win. So for this day - Love red! Think green.
Your earth-friendly ensemble, will steal the scene! - sourced: Durban July website.

And so the long awaited Dbn July is upon us, this year's theme "A material world" has a twist to it; caring for mother nature and the world( the whole "going green" thing). With a few ideas that have been hinted above. It's gonna be interesting to see how fashionistas translate that into gorgeous "show stopper" pieces. Here are some of my ideas or rather outfits that i think may be seen at the July. If not, they should have been considered....

MY LOVE FOR FASHION.......

Hey bugggz, please excuse me for being a bit quite lately. Been working on the branding and corp id and ya'll know how those brainstorming sessions with the graphics can get. On a good note though, all that hibernation was good as i know you will love the website once it's wrapped up this week, business cards are looking awesome and have been creating a buzz. So now you have my full attention as things are moving forward.

Anywho so this weekend i started trading officially as a Fashion Stylist for two of my gorgeous clients looking for the "durban july" outfits. All went well, clients happy with what i've sourced out for them so far, finalizing everything weekend. With all that being said, it just got me thinking if i had to describe my personal style for someone to style me what would be the easiest way to describe it to them; Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian are my biggest style influences. Then i add a few other pepole's style like Eva Longoria, Kourtney Kardashian, etc. My style is pretty much straight forward; my look is simple-elegant or sexy-elegant with a pinch of edgy-sophistication as well as glam here and there.
